It was a beautiful, sunny March afternoon as LCPC women of all ages – along with two of the youngest gentlemen – flocked to South London for the sixth annual ladies’ afternoon tea.
After helping ourselves to whatever tea tickled our fancy, we set about devouring the wide variety of sandwiches, canapés, cakes, biscuits, tartlets and other goodies prepared for us by Jan. Honourable mention goes to Gillian for her scones – some of the ladies could be seen smuggling a scone or four home with them at the end of the afternoon… (There were a lot of scones!)
It was a wonderful time of fellowship in a relaxed atmosphere, catching up with old friends and making new ones. The afternoon tea is always a great opportunity to learn more about newcomers to the congregation, hearing about their home countries, churches and families whilst introducing them to the delights of British baking (and tea).
We thank God for Jan and her magnificent generosity in hosting the ladies every year in such a fantastic way. Now all we have to do is wait 12 months for the next one…!
