London City Presbyterian Church is pleased to be hosting an evening with Rev David Robertson where he will discuss his new book, Magnificent Obsession. Written in letter form to a fictional character called ‘J’, the book answers questions about Jesus and is an excellent introduction to Christianity. It shows why Jesus is the reason to believe. In response to the shout of “God is not Great” by the late Christopher Hitchens, Magnificent Obsession shows why Jesus is God and is Great.
Beautifully written, laced with tasteful humour, here is a book you can give to your non-Christian friends. RT Kendall – previously minister at Westminster Chapel, London.
David Robertson is pastor of St Peter’s Free Church in Dundee, and a trustee of the Solas Centre for Public Christianity. He has previously written The Dawkins Letters – a response to The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins, Quench – a book on cafe culture evangelism, and Awakening – on the life and ministry of Rev Robert Murray McCheyne. David has recently appeared on 4thought.tv, and in December took part in a live televised debate on the future of marriage.
Engaging and insightful… This book is useful no matter what your experience and where you stand on matters of faith. Tim Keller – Senior Pastor, Redeemer Presbyterian Church, New York
All are welcome to join us at 6.30pm on Friday 7 February. (The church is located here). David will speak about his book, then answer questions from the floor. We look forward to seeing you there!
David Robertson is so honest, acute and convincing, that I fear books like Magnificent Obsession will soon be banned by the new atheist censors, lest enquiring young sceptics presume to examine them. Dick Lucas – Formerly Rector of St Helen’s Bishopsgate, London
