Saying Farewell to Harrison and Sarah

Saying Farewell to Harrison and Sarah

Harrison and Sarah Perkins have been beloved members of our congregation for four years, a vibrant part of the LCPC family who have consistently and compassionately loved and served their brothers and sisters in Christ. Harrison has faithfully preached God’s Word to us over his time as associate pastor and elder, leading the congregation sacrificially, and bringing pastoral wisdom and care to every member. Harrison has used his gift for teaching generously in a number of contexts, from producing videos about covenant theology to giving talks in the 20s and 30s meetings on various theological issues, which has been of great spiritual benefit to the whole congregation. By his side, Sarah has been the ultimate renaissance woman, teaching our covenant children, making Sunday school videos and materials, being a pastoral beacon and comfort for her fellow women, and graciously undertaking many other jobs over the years that we might not always see, but are nonetheless valuable in the life of the church. Both of these people, and now their son, Scott, have been a continuous blessing to LCPC, and it is with sadness, but gratitude, that we say goodbye to them as they move back to America.

In trials, triumphs and everything in between, Harrison and Sarah have been there for us. Both are friendly and approachable people who are caring for their fellow members and always there to talk and support us as their own family; their behaviour realizes the truth that we are a covenant family in Christ, and they are our brother and sister. In this spirit we know that despite the oceans between us, we are always one body of people, thanks to the grace of God that brought us together. At LCPC we have friends all over the world who have passed through our doors, and those relationships endure, as we know they will here, because as brothers and sisters in Christ we share a bond with Harrison and Sarah, designed by God for the betterment of our lives, for the rest of our lives.

During their time at LCPC it was also a joy for the people of the church to witness the birth of their son, Scott, as well as his baptism, a meaningful occasion in which Harrison baptised his son himself. Watching Scott grow has been a privilege for all of us, as well as seeing their journey progress as a young family. Harrison and Sarah have provided a consistent witness for God in their lives as Christians in the church, as a married couple, and now as parents. They have also been faithful mentors to the younger members of the congregation, generous with their time and counsel, and leading with love and empathy to all, in good times and difficult times. With Harrison and Sarah, we could always rely on an open door and a warm welcome, hospitality and fellowship, whenever we needed it.

Now we are saying farewell, we will miss them dearly. God brought them into our lives like a gift and while their departure is painful, we rejoice that His plan is always perfect. They will be a part of our spiritual family forever wherever their paths go, and it is with great love that we part, as they move on to their next adventure, continuing to bless all those they meet as they have blessed us. In London there is a lot of coming and going, and every time members of LCPC move on we say, ‘It’s not goodbye, but see you soon.’ Harrison, Sarah and Scott, we love you and we’ll see you soon.
